‘Red Sea Tourism Development Strategy Review’

• Delimitating sites and areas to be protected
• Drawing up protection procedures and preparing nomination files

• Conducting feasibility and cost-effectiveness studies
• Identifying and studying sites in view of their inclusion in the local or national economy, and undertaking use optimization studies
• Preparing presentations and museological referencing
• Conceiving and installing museums and art centers
• Preparing tourism plans and programs of activities
• Designing communication strategies
• Project management and implementation of heritage sites and of up-market tourism, involving:
• Setting up the necessary institutional structures
• Staff training
•Implementing economic control procedures (quality control,
marketing, economic networking and impact optimization)

GAIA-Heritage has been subcontracted by Tourism Leisure & Sports (T&L) to provide an external technical expertise in the elaboration of the ‘Red Sea Tourism Development Strategy Review’. Its role was to (a) review and update the Red Sea Tourism Development Strategy taking into account the broader ‘General Strategy for the Development of National Tourism’, and (b) to formulate a realistic action plan along with an identification of the tools needed to insure its proper implementation.
